Refund Policy
How refund requests are handled for tickets purchased through BuyMyTicket, including organiser approval and event changes.
This Refund Policy explains how refund requests are handled for tickets purchased through BuyMyTicket.
1. General refund position
All ticket sales are generally final once payment has been completed, unless:
- the event is cancelled;
- the event is postponed and the organiser approves refunds;
- the organiser’s event-specific policy allows refunds;
- the organiser approves a refund;
- a refund is required by applicable law.
BuyMyTicket does not approve refunds independently unless the relevant event organiser has approved the refund or the refund is required by law.
Customers should check the event name, date, venue, ticket type, quantity and customer details before completing payment.
2. Organiser approval
All refund requests must first be reviewed and approved by the relevant event organiser, promoter, venue or event partner.
BuyMyTicket may assist with communication and processing, but the organiser remains responsible for deciding whether a refund is approved, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
3. When refunds are usually not granted
Unless required by law or approved by the organiser, refunds are usually not granted where:
- you can no longer attend;
- you bought the wrong ticket;
- you selected the wrong date or event;
- you entered the wrong email address or phone number;
- you arrived late;
- you did not bring required ID;
- you did not comply with age restrictions;
- you were refused entry for breaching venue or event rules;
- you shared your ticket and someone else used it;
- your ticket was already scanned;
- you missed part of the event;
- weather affected your experience but the event still went ahead;
- advertised performers, vendors, schedules or event features changed but the event still took place.
4. Cancelled events
If an event is cancelled by the organiser, BuyMyTicket will work with the organiser to confirm the available remedy.
This may include:
- a refund;
- a transfer to a new date;
- a replacement ticket;
- a credit;
- another arrangement approved by the organiser.
Refunds for cancelled events may depend on organiser approval, available funds, payment provider processes and applicable law.
5. Postponed or rescheduled events
If an event is postponed or rescheduled, tickets may remain valid for the new date unless the organiser confirms otherwise.
If you cannot attend the new date, you may request a refund or alternative arrangement. Approval will depend on the organiser’s policy, the circumstances of the postponement and applicable law.
6. Event changes
Events may change due to operational, safety, weather, venue, supplier, performer, racing schedule, artist, vendor or organiser reasons.
Changes to line-ups, schedules, gates, classes, vendors, facilities or advertised features do not automatically qualify for a refund unless required by law or approved by the organiser.
7. Ticket price and built-in fees
BuyMyTicket booking, service, platform or administrative fees may be built into the displayed ticket price.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, these fees are not charged separately at checkout.
If a refund is approved, the refundable amount will depend on the organiser’s approval, the event-specific refund rules, applicable law and any costs already incurred.
8. Duplicate payments
If you believe you were charged twice for the same order, contact BuyMyTicket as soon as possible with proof of payment and order details.
If a duplicate payment is confirmed, BuyMyTicket will assist with correcting the payment where possible.
9. Incorrect customer details
Customers are responsible for entering the correct email address, phone number and personal details.
If you entered the wrong email address but payment was successful, contact BuyMyTicket for assistance. We may be able to resend the ticket after verifying the order.
This does not automatically qualify for a refund.
10. Used or scanned tickets
Once a ticket has been scanned and accepted at an event, it is treated as used.
Used tickets are not refundable except in exceptional circumstances approved by BuyMyTicket and the organiser.
11. How to request a refund
To request a refund, contact BuyMyTicket with:
- your full name;
- email address used for the order;
- event name;
- order number or ticket reference;
- reason for the refund request;
- proof of payment if requested.
Email: hello@buymyticket.co.za
WhatsApp: +27 62 827 9847
BuyMyTicket may need to refer the request to the event organiser before a decision can be made.
12. Refund timelines
If a refund is approved, processing times may depend on the organiser, payment provider, bank, payment method and administrative process.
BuyMyTicket will try to assist with approved refunds as soon as reasonably possible, but bank and payment provider processing times are outside our control.
13. Chargebacks and payment disputes
If you raise a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank, your ticket may be cancelled while the dispute is investigated.
False or abusive chargebacks may result in account restriction or refusal of future purchases.
